Hey,

I'm a big Heroes fan and the only chance I get to see it is on the web, unfortunately TV - links got shut down.

I'm now using - http://videostic.com/TvShows/ -, which is great because it offers different links but when I try to play on IE, it just won’t stream anything,... I installed all the software it wants but still nothing.

I then tried on firefox and it began to stream, but very very very slowly (an hour to stream 10 minutes of a 42 minute episode. I watch a lot of videos online and they don't take anywhere near as long as this.

Any suggestions?

well it could be there server
your speeds are dsl for Ping times ,right
speed could be better
go to dslreports.com do tests and tweaks see what they say
increase MTU to 1492 always helps
if on router move it at least 2 ft away from modem, unless of course they are one and same

my ping is higher further away

Why don't you just watch them legally from www.nbc.com ?

right messed around with the MTU settings (was a bit out of my depth) so I got my super rich IT brother to come help me out.

and he agreed its was worth a bash so the results now are:

so really nothing in the way of improvement. was worth ago though

check nic settings sometimes works better forcing 100 full duplex mode instead of auto, sometimes makes it worse.
if onboard nic it is using CPU
there's loads of other manual reg tweaks that can help
ask your provider how far away from dsl hub you are
this gives you an idea that it can be helped or not
to far and nothing short of moving closer will help
EI:
my nephew is 100 ft from hub not tweaking
his speeds are 3mb down on dsl line
when I was on dsl and at the far end my best was 800kbs
thats one reason I went cable
