SLI on a P35, Driver Mods

I was just browsing reviews and came accross this

We have tested the Crosslinx technology and installed two ASUS GeForce 6600GT video cards (based on NVIDIA chips) in the SLI mode. Since Intel's chipsets do not offer official support for the SLI technology, we had to use modified drivers

Link (http://www.digital-daily.com/motherboard/asus_blitz/index4.htm) Scroll just pass the results table 3/4 way down

is that even possible? and if so, anyone got any ideas where i can find the modified drivers, i have the ASUS Blitz Formular P35, and if SLI is possible i may get 2 8800GT's
But the thing is, Crosslink works at X8 PCI-E in dual GPU mode, or X16 PCI-E single GPU.
Dont modern GPU's i.e Nvidia 8XXX series cards require 2 X16 PCI-E lanes for SLI to work?

No they don't require 16X for SLI to work. 8X is just slightly slower than 16X and most of the video work is done between the cards through the SLI bridge. Modified drivers are a pain. They are usually produced by highly motivated educated users who may or may not burn out after a while.

That driver is over a year old.
