Talk to Dell and verify you are the owner, to seek their help. This model is particularly difficult, but there may still be a whiz or two reading these related posts. Good luck. champ 02-24-2008, 10:46 AM you can search on ebay it cost you 95$ its the best way when you want a password otherwise contact dell i dont what dell count to help you. Unless you are the registered owner, Dell will not help, and it takes about 21-30 days to get registered. The Dell Latitude D620 is a difficult password fix. Suggest you read through all the Dell password messages on this TechSpot forum, and there are at least 800 messages... in there somewhere, there may ba a clue, and there may be a person who can repair it... but you may have to ship it elsewhere to get it done. The answer, if there is one, is somewhere in our log of Dell password messages. You may get lucky, and have the one or two experts who can fix it read your message and contact you. A fix from a professional service will cost as much as $450... Best place I know of is in Ontario, Canada. ALL I NEED IS THE HASH. CODE.EMAIL IT TO ME email removed wooooody 02-26-2008, 09:02 AM I submitted an owner transfer on the Dell site, I recieved an email informing me that the transfer was complete. I then phoned Dell to obtain the bios master password and I was told "fax in the details of the system confirming ownership on Company Headed Paper. The customer should be able to identify either the individual contact or company name on the account" On what account? Ive emailed dell asking them to clarify the information they need, is it my details or the previous owner? As I've already given them these details over the phone. ;-) champ 02-26-2008, 10:08 AM I Need A Hardrive Password The Code Is #A61*******595b Please Help raybay 02-26-2008, 10:11 AM For what brand and model? scriptedmind 02-26-2008, 12:31 PM I have an HP pavilion ze4200 laptop that i bought at a store called savers, its kind of like a goodwill store where people donate things. The laptop doesnt have a HD or batt so i put a spare hd in it to install windows and noticed the bios needs a password. The hash is 03399. I dont expect anyone to give me the unlock code cause most people charge and HP wont help cause i dont know who used to own it. It was a donation to the store i got it from. What im curios about is how hard it is to read the eeprom and either get the password or write a blank pass to the eeprom. If anyone could offer any help i would appreciate it very much. Thanks guys. nabeel 02-26-2008, 03:49 PM hello can someone tell me if rustam can help me. i have heard that he helped other people in this forum.rustam if u see my post pls give me an answer maybe ur help.thanx champ 02-26-2008, 03:57 PM its a fujitsu model MHW2080BH raybay 02-26-2008, 04:07 PM Rustam can probably help, as he is very knowledgeable on this topic. Tmagic650 02-26-2008, 10:44 PM Go to Dell.com... Obi 02-27-2008, 01:33 AM I have a dell latitude d610 that has the gray screen of death and I need to unlock the master password. (service tag #c9kzt91) I have tried the program latitude, exe with no luck. latitude.exe works for D35B Tags only. Go to http://www.download.centre4service.com/software1.html The shorting procedure works for your D610. wooooody 02-27-2008, 09:03 AM Contacting Dell worked! I had to fax a letter of assurance, once I did this my password was emailed to me and worked first time! Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me! ;-) manth59 - shorting technique or removing cmos on the D620, do not work on D620, best way is to contact DELL, prove ownership and they will supply the master password for your machine. ;-) raybay 02-27-2008, 09:45 AM That is very good news, indeed! Dell has an enormous problem with the way it has handled password problems on refurbished laptops. Laptops owned by the Government, and large corporations, then returned to Dell for reconfiguration before then being resold are the biggest problem. But huge numbers of owners have lost access to their computers due to no fault of their own. Dell has been hit from all sides. It is nice to know they are responding in a way that is reasonable, and that protects their system, while protecting the rights of owners. Thank you for the updates. aikions 02-27-2008, 01:48 PM I recently bought a Dell XPS M1710 from eBay and got the warranty transferred to me but I'm the kind of person who always loses stuff so I wanted to change my current service tag on my XPS M1710 to the one I got now. Does anyone know how to do that? scriptedmind 02-27-2008, 09:32 PM Thanks for the password Champ, worked like a dream. For those of you needing HP passwords, talk to champ. Not a bad deal for $15. He hooked me up with a password in notime and it worked perfect. Sure beats the heck out of calling HP and playing ring around the phones. spl88ff 02-28-2008, 09:22 AM I recently bought a Dell XPS M1710 from eBay and got the warranty transferred to me but I'm the kind of person who always loses stuff so I wanted to change my current service tag on my XPS M1710 to the one I got now. Does anyone know how to do that? Yes you need to download asset.exe, or dset.exe. Email me if you cannot find the above and i will send you them. kimsland 02-28-2008, 10:05 AM Here is the online free Dell archive ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/utility/ Although I could not find dset.exe but found other boards report this file as Spyware. What is it exactly? spl88ff 02-28-2008, 01:34 PM Here is the online free Dell archive ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/utility/ Although I could not find dset.exe but found other boards report this file as Spyware. What is it exactly? Asset.com or asset.exe change the tag DSET.EXE i am sure changes the service code/express code i think lol spl88ff 02-28-2008, 01:39 PM Asset.com or asset.exe usage; remember to note tag you have now. 1. Always delete the tag first 2. Then add new tag. ------------------------------------------------------ All the commands; ASSET /d Delete asset tag ASSET /o new_owner_tag Specify new owner tag (if applicable) ASSET /o /d Delete owner tag (if applicable) ASSET /? It is possible to make the problem insoluable. spl88ff 02-28-2008, 06:46 PM There is more guesswork on this subject than knowledge. It is possible to make the problem insoluable. I can assure you it isnt guess work as i have used this asset.com for many years on quite a few pcs/laptops. Why guess work, i dont understand? All commands listed above. Asset.com is an engineering tool from dell. kimsland 02-28-2008, 06:58 PM I think he was referring to the I think part. (there i go again) And was hinting we should stay focussed to the topic, help finding Passwords Which I'm presently not! Point taken Asset.com and Svctag.exe don't actually help in removing the password But they can indirectly help, by calling Dell and saying, see it does belong to me! sky_fox 02-29-2008, 04:56 AM There is an easier way of sorting passwords on d620 i hit on it yesterday after days googling and searching this forum and it worked first time. liviurbrn 02-29-2008, 10:05 AM I have traded my laptop with someone a laptop and he gave me a laptop dell with a coded bios and i need to delete de password or change it if anybody can help me ? pls reply my laptop is a dell latitude d 510 and it's service tag is 15HCY1J-595B if anybody can help me pls post me a reply at .
