I need to figure out how to burn a dvd file that is on my computer. I add new videos for burning and click creat disc but quickly it says error encoding. The software never burns the dvd. I can burn everything else.

There are a large number of upgrade files required from the Roxio site. You mayl need your product number and software serial number.
If your optical drive is old, that could also be a problem as they burn out and go out of alignment after about a year.
Sometimes it is easier and faster to replace the DVD burner with one from LG or Samsung sold by Wal-Mart, BestBuy, NewEgg, Circuit City, and other such folk.
