Need monitor driver

I have an IBM Thinkpad T20 laptop and want to upgrade to XP. I ran the XP Upgrade Advisor from Microsoft's website and it came up telling me I need a IBM Power Monitor driver. I went to IBM/Lenovo's website looking for the up to date driver and found none that had a more recent version driver. I searched the net for a site that might carry it, and only found sites that want me to join for a fee "claiming" from the search that they have an updated driver. I don't want to pay a fee for 1 stupid driver just to have XP. Anyone have any ideas where I can find one with no charges? Thanks.

I found ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Me, 98 SE - ThinkPad

From here :-

And all updates, from here :-

Download seemed to be slow, but works.

I had found that one too and tried it, but it didn't work. That driver is a Power Management driver is why though, not a Power Monitor driver.

I wonder if it was referring to your computer's BIOS version, that requires updating.
This is where power management really lives.

Note: Updating your BIOS firmware, can be critical, and if done incorrectly can render your computer's motherboard dead.

Even so maybe check your version installed, to what new version is available.
(That part I haven't done for you!)

I'll look into it, thanks.
