Thanks go to poertner for pointing this one out. CNN is running a story today regarding laptop sales, for the first time in history mobiles have clinched the top spot in retail computer sales with nearly 54% of the market, compare that to year 2000 when notebooks represented less than 25 percent of sales volume.

We have been forecasting this for quite sometime, and despite of the larger price tags compared to its desktop siblings, portability (and comparable performance if you want) have driven enough attention to the mobile market. Manufacturers have also turned over the more profitable market, if you have been paying enough attention you might remember recent big launches such as Intel's Centrino, ATI & NVIDIA mobile GPUs, etc.
