Problem With Creative Xfi Xtreme Gamer

Hi every body
I buy my Xfi xtreme gamer yesterday
I download last 32 bit driver from www.creative.com
afther installation i cant hear nice sound from rear speaker when i watch in dvice manager i can see this version for my sound card
DRIVER DATE : 10/25/2007
DRIVER VERSION : 6.0.1.1304
Is this corect or not? and what should i do for get nice sound from rear speaker?

S.P : i see this message from my dxdiag

Notes : The file ctaud2k.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.

Plz help me

your current driver may not be compatible with your system as it says ctaud2k.sys is not digitally signed.

go back to your hardware's manufacturer website & download the driver compatible
for winXP version.

when you download the driver,be specific with the model of your sound
hardware as you haven't mentioned your sound hardware specifications.

if your not sure what xfi product that you have, please attach the dxdiag
report to your next post.

try the link below, click agree on the lower part of the page.

http://us.creative.com/support/downl...s+Vista+32-bit

download & save the driver, before installing,un-install first your current sound driver.

then install the one you downloaded from creative, after installing,
reboot your machine & try your sound.

please check your BIOS,ensure that the onboard sound is disabled.(you haven't
mentioned yet).

and what type of speakers do you have?

is it only when you're playing games?

what is the sound reproduction when you're playing music ie: mp3 from
your HDD or CD music?

please confirm if you have exclusive XP (only) installer (CD) that comes with
the sound card.

ok,that's clear.

so,you have the XP driver which is your CD (vista not included),
& the one you downloaded was for vista, because you need it
to run the sound card in vista OS.right?

now, you're using the sound driver for vista version (the downloaded one).
& yet you have this ctaud2k.sys file in your driver which is not digitally signed.

i guess there's a glitch in your vista sound driver.

since you mentioned that the problem only occurs in vista OS.

is there a way that you can exchange the sound card for a vista compliant one?
(hardware & software)..just a suggestion.

otherwise, you have to go back to XP.unless the hardware manufacturer can
provide another version of vista driver other than the one you have right now.

your rear speakers work's well in XP & that should explain it.

please check your speakers audio inputs,if you have LEFT & RIGHT RCA line in.you can use it via your sound card's FLEXIJACk (Line In / Microphone In / Optical Outš via shared 3.5mm mini jack).

SPDIF or Optical in/out normally reproduces better sound quality.
but no guarantee it will fix your problem.

dont feel bad...mate,..all you need to do is be patient.
i know a lot of members here have better ideas on how to
fix your audio problem, just wait & more help will come to
give you some advise.

you sould realize that taking your machine to a repair shop
is different from just fixing it through post's & replies.

some problems were solved & threads stopped after 70 posts or so.
so things must be taken step by step.

I have X-Fi and it runs fine in Vista...

Uninstall the driver that you installed as it seems something went wrong,
When uninstalling delete all shared Creative audio driver files (there will be a message asking if you want).

Reboot, but before getting into Windows go into BIOS and
check if onboard is disabled in BIOS

Boot into Windows Vista. Close your internet connection. Close any applications you have running. Then install the driver you downloaded from creative website.

It'll be safer that way - lesser risk that driver installation routine might go wrong as it did last time, apparently.

ok,you still dont want to go back to XP.

your X-Fi have a stereo to 7.1 sound format (3.5 mm jack) output socket,
you can use this cable:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...183190&g=20114

if you have a left & right RCA inputs from your creative 5.1 speakers
(not sure what specific model you have) you can plug it from there.

or you can use this cable:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...ICABLE&g=20114

if your creative 5.1 speakers have the mini jack input (PC in,Aux in or Line in).

if you have either of the two cables (of course the inputs)
your speakers might all fire up a sound but it can only give you surround sound, not
necessarily 7.1 format because you're only running a 5.1 speaker system.
