HI, i have a 'hl-dt-st dvd-rom gdr8163b' dvd-rom which has suddenly stopped working. when i insert a dvd the red/orange blinks then goes off. please anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

yep... doesn't look good for your drive..
if you simply google Hl-dt-st dvd-rom gdr8163b you'll see it has a long history of suddenly not working anymore. You might look and see if there;s are more recent firmware release then running in the drive.. but, if only based on reading other's experience online, you're probably best to spend your time looking for a new drive.
