Toshiba A215-S5818 Performance Issues

I have recently bought the Toshiba A215-S5818 and it came with vista home and although I would get decent video play on VISTA i was no impressed with overall performance and overall speed.

I downgraded to XP Pro and overall computer speed is up almost twice the speed as before however my video now is lagging horribly. My video drivers are installed fine, can my graphics card actually be designed to run better on vista?

Reason I am asking is because my old laptop which was a fujitsu notebook 4 yrs old by now p4 2.4 1 gig of ram and its overall performance video and computer speed was almost 10 times better then what I am receiving even when I had vista.

Is this normal or could there be something wrong with the laptop I bought.

Thanks

What are the specs of the Toshiba? CPU, Memory and hard drive capacity.

I think I found your specs:

"AMD Turion 64 X2 Processor
ATI Radeon X1200 Graphics
2 Gigs of memory
160 gig HDD
Atheros Wireless"...
These are plenty good to support Vista. I've installed Vista Home Premium on lesser laptops and they have all worked fast and stable

1. you may need more ram - at least 1gb for XP

2. You hard drive may be too slow if less than 7200rpm

3. You may have too many programs autoloading. Run msconfig from XP and turn off ones you don't need starting up.
