Ok, first go into iTunes preferences under advanced. Under importing make sure mp3 is selected and select your preferred bitrate(128+). Next click on burning and make sure it's set to audio cd. Now burn your protected songs to an cd-r as an audio cd. Then, import the burned cd into your iTunes library. It will now import the songs into your iTunes as mp3 files with the bitrate you specified. The mp3 versions of the songs will work on any mp3 player.
