8600 GT Question

How well would a 8600 GT(256 mb) suit me? I know it's considered underpowered, but I'm not too obsessive over high quality. I want to play COD4, Sins of a Solar Empire, Mass Effect, Bioshock, and Spore. How well would it work on those games(at 1600 x1200 and 1280x 1024).

The 8600 is a budget board. All games will be slower much slower!

go for 8800 if you can,, gl,

It would be impossible to accurately answer you unless you provide your system specs in which you will be installing this graphics card. This way our members can locate potential bottlenecks throughout the rest of your system.

On an average system, the 8600GT should theoretically be able to play the aforementioned games on medium-ish settings, but cranking up the resolution to 1600x1200 might just be too much for newer titles.

If you really want a 8600GT, I would recommend the XFX XXX-Edition:

Otherwise, the 9600GT would be a good choice as it is one generation ahead of the 8600GT.

Anyone got a 3dmark score for this guys 8600 . If it scores 7k or more. You will have pleasureable experience. Still though once again I recommend 8800 series.. gl,

Okay well my current spec(already posted on other threads, you might recognize them) are 2.13 ghz dual core 2 gb RAM. That really all that's needed for gaming right? Also, I'm upgrading from a 2.4ghz(single core) 512 mb RAM, and ATI 9250. The 8800 GS looks nice though. My parents usually only let me order from amazon, though. If I can convince my dad to let me order off of newegg, it might work. The problem with a 9600 or 8800 is that they are too expensive.
