Kaspersky and mbam show a problem, but..

There was a virus problem with my daughter's computer a while back, and i appreciate all the help i received on this site.

Lately, opening IE, or a new window in IE takes about 10 times longer than usual. I have followed the instructions for cleaning, and have attached the following two logs, because i can't figure out what they are saying.

Kaspersky and mbam show a problem, but i can't find them. also the problem is with a nero file, but that is a fairly reputible company, isn't it?

A lot of malware is named after legit programs. Sometimes you pick up false positives also.

Empty your recycle bin

you do have some infections so please follow these Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions and post back in this thread with the requested logs. There should be at least 3.

1)MBAM or SAS log
2)Combofix log
3)Hijackthis log (Step 15)

Logs and response

i have attached the dss (combo doesn't work with xp64) hijack this, and mbam.

my problems with internet explorer may not have anything to do with this, but when i open ie, or a new window or tab, it takes a full 2.5 minutes before it unfreezes and loads the page browsed. once the window is open, browsing is the same speed as before, as long as a new window or tab is not necessary.
tis includes the window that opens when i hit the manage attachments button. wait for 2.5 min, then as long as i attach all the files without closing, everything is fast.

Here are 2 more secure browsers to choose from, see if one of these also has this problem:
1)Firefox -> http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
2)Opera -> http://www.opera.com/

-------------------------------------------------------------

Did CCleaner work ok for you?

--------------------------------------------------------------

Let's remove some installation folders, the programs themselves should be on one of your drives in the X:\program files folders. These are just installers.

Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):

D:\Download\Nero Ultra 4-28-2008
S:\Download from GLH\NERO
Y:\Download GLH\Audio Converters\Xilisoft Audio converter
Y:\Download GLH\NERO
Y:\Download GLH\Net Tools

After that, Reboot

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manually clear cache
  • Open an Explorer folder window (for example, double-click My Computer).
  • From the Explorer menu select Tools | Folder Options | View. Make sure that you have checked the box next to "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".
  • Start Internet Explorer and click Tools | Internet Options | General tab | Settings | View Files.
  • IE should have opened up a folder window, typically viewing a folder with the name of C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files. Put your cursor in the Address area of the folder window and add the name \content.ie5 to the name, so in our example the Address bar would now read c:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\content.ie5.
  • You should see a series of folders with random eight-character names like ADOZMZS1. Delete each of these randomly named folders. You may get an error that some files are in use, this is normal if you are currently at a web site since those files are in the cache. Hold down the Shift key when deleting the files so they do not go to the Recycle Bin.
