No should not be in the post (takes up too much room, with all the other relevant stuff)

It should be in here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/editprofile#systemspecs

If i reply to a post of an OS i understand.Adding XP or Vista to the title
is what i meant to say, like,
Help with sound problem.
XP sound problem.
This is even less space,we know it's for help.

Which one:
32 Bit
64 Bit
Home
Pro
Media Center
Upgrade/full

Too many questions from doing this

Better for support staff, just to state, "Please put your System Specs in your Profile"

I think zipperman is trying to describe a different problem than simply stating your OS in the subject line.

And I agree that sometimes we get too many threads with generic "I need help" topics. I have been fighting those for as long as I can remember but it's really hard to establish rules that will be followed by members as we'd want them to ideally.

In fact, I come to the forums 1-2 times a day not to read but to moderate and edit thread titles. So rather than establishing a requirement to post the OS on the thread title or first thing in the post, we should look for mechanisms that can help educating new users on the proper rules to post a thread with a meaningful description on both title and content.

I'm more than open to new ideas on this regard.

Needs to be on the first login page
Lots of info, with a "Do not show this again option"
Removing the cookie will make the page show again, on next login, but I'm happy with that.
Basically this page could be attached to the forums not the front page
