DMCA takedown notices not always accurately issued
Apparently, a study at the University of Washington has found proof of something that everyone who follows the news knows: the RIAA, MPAA and ESA simply hoard IP addresses without determining whether the person in question is even guilty, or even a person. According to the researchers, it is possible to manipulate IP addresses to falsely implicate someone else, which was proven when they used the aforementioned method to generate DMCA notices for three printers which were accused of downloading illegal copies of Iron Man and the new Indiana Jones movie.
IMO, it just proves that MPAA + ESA + RIAA = ******. Read the full story here. |
