Hi,

I'm having random BSOD's on my pc since a few days, they appear in normal mode after anything between 1sec and 1hour after logging in. On reboot i get the "windows is repaired..." popup. In safe mode everything runs fine.
I tried the following:
-Virus/rootkit scan
-Swapping ram
-Swapping 3D + updating drivers
-Removing sound card
but still no luck...

Unsure as to what these actually mean somebody else on here maybe able to help with this.

0x8E errors are almost always caused by hardware issues.

1. You swapped RAM. Does this mean that you put in different RAM or you switched the sticks to a different slot? If you haven't already run MemTest for a minimum of 7 passes you need to do so.

2. Run a full harddrive diagnostics using the diagnostic utility provided by your HD manufacturer.

I swapped ram from a 100% working pc to mine

But is your motherboard rated for that RAM and vice-versa? List your system specs and tell us what RAM you were first using and then the RAM you swapped out. Give us the timings and CAS Latency.

Okay, according to the information that I was able to google this is what your motherboard is rated for:

2 x 168-pin 3.3V SDR SDRAM (PC100/PC133) &

2 x 184-pin 2.5V DDR SDRAM (PC1600/PC2100)

Can you tell me what the PC the sticks are, i.e. PC100, etc.?

256mb: pc2100 CL2.5
512mb: pc2700 CL2.5

Your 2700 may be compatible but will run at your 2100 speeds. Try this: Take out your 512 and see if that brings stability. Then take out your 256 stick and put back your 512 stick and see if it is stable.

256 megs of RAM for XP is a bit low. 512 is the recommended minimum though XP will function with 256.

Second, the most your motherboard will handle is one gigabyte (2x512) of RAM. This motherboard has two slots for DDR and two slots for SDR. Make sure your DDR is in the correct slots.

Again same Hardware error. You should try the 512mb RAM card as Route44 said and see if that works
