Should I update my drivers on a solid system?

I understand the adage that states that 'If it ain't broke don't fix it'
And my computer is apx four years old and when running driver scans it is advising there are drivers that could be updated. (17% outdated )
My question is this: Is there scan tools available to a user that one does not have to pay to recieve the download sites? I have attempted to go to the manufactures sites with very little sucess. Can anyone advise? Before one feels the need to suggest I put down cash to subscribe - I am already considering that option.
Can anyone give me advice on this subject?

The drivers are usually released because they make something work better, or eliminate risk, but I like the philosophy of which you spoke... if it ain't broke....

On cameras, the updates generally make images better by removing color artifacts, or streaking, or light imbalance, or greyish tones...

Still, if you are happy, stay happy...
