A federal judge in Seattle on Monday did not sentence Robert Soloway, the man known as the spam king, because all of the scheduled witnesses did not have time to take the stand even after two full days of testimony.

Microsoft sued Soloway for the spam he sent to Hotmail users and won a $7.8 million judgment, none of which Soloway has yet paid.

Soloway lost another case filed by a small ISP in Oklahoma and was ordered to pay $10 million to that company. None of that ruling has been paid yet either.

But do these ISP's pass on the fines to the actual people inconvenienced .... ooh that'd be the fee paying customers (like you and me) wouldn't it?

Nope, they'd probably keep it all for them greedy little selves and continue to do nothing in stopping the spam getting through THEIR system in the first place.

Have you ever tried to get an ISP host to block a spammer or delete his website, not an easy task that's for sure!

I am just grateful they are pursuing those guys. Most are in Eastern Europe where it is difficult to do anything.

As marvin says its a pointless excercise, the guy cant pay the fines, those who have been spammed will see not a penny, the ISP's wont do anything about it... and for those in foreign climes well do you actually think they will ever get caught.?
