djg08642 - No need to worry about being 'the guy'. I hope I can help. I have been helped many, many times on here. I am glad to try and return the favor....
I don't know why it is showing up as 9200, instead of 8200. I also have all the latest drivers and mine says 8200...strange... You have to use the Realtek Device Manager to select the NVidia HD audio device. You need to use the NVidia HD audio device instead of the Realtek HD device, but still use the Realtek Device Manager. I am at work right now, when I get home later today , I can post the exact steps. Its a real pain to get it working the first time, but after that it works ok. It should show up in the list of devices from the Realtek Device manager. |

I looked everywhere in the Realtek manager and didn't see anywhere I could select a different device.
Step-by-step instructions on how to get this working would be much appreciated ![]() EDIT: Just downloaded the latest Realtek Driver and I see where to select the output source but the nVidia HDMI device isn't listed. Just the Realtek one. Help! Last edited by djg08642; 06-23-2009 at 06:56 PM.. |

Model: Acer X1200 U1794A
I am having the exact same problem djg08642 is having, even where the card shows up as a 9200 with the latest drivers. In my case, the awdbiosa02 fixed my HDMI audio issue to where I could actually boot windows Vista 32 and hear a sound for 2 seconds and then nothing....however when I go into my XBMC and run a movie, the sound works flawlessly over hdmi. Also, my network works perfect, no issues at all There is 1 issue and 1 issue only with the A02 though. With the A02 bios, my computer has a problem booting and ALWAYS makes me select F1 to start up...and WILL NOT LET ME IN THE BIOS!! If I hit Del to enter bios at any point, i just get a black screen forever... If I load the latest bios, everthing works perfect EXCEPT now no HDMI Audio. This is driving me crazy! I have yet to play around with the A03, but the first time I loaded it, it didnt work.... |

Okay I reloaded the entire system with the A02 bios and Vista 32 Home Premium and had no sound. The sound devices said High Def HDMI - working. But it really didnt work.
I stumbled upon an NVidia HDMI Audio Driver...the only ones I could find were for XP 32 and Vista 64. This was on nvidia.com web site. So I tried the XP 32 version of the driver and after it installed, Vista said there may have been a problem with the install, would I like to find a solution, or 'the driver installed correctly'. So I chose installed correctly and rebooted. Went back in to sound devices and noticed now I have 'NVidia HDMI Audio - working' Now please note, I have no sound in windows itself, but when I load XBMC and tell it to use 'NVidia HDMI Audio' in Audio Hardware in settings, I then play a 720p mkv movie and I have 5 channel sound over HDMI! ![]() Thats all I really care about. So the bottom line is, the standalone NVidia HDMI Audio driver solved the issue. |
