no luck the first try, it stayed on the adavanced options page, then rebooted again.
i thinks its working this time....

nevermind, didn't work. I got to the page thats a listing of system32 files, then it rebooted again.

ok looks like it corrupted your registry do you have your xp cd we need to get into the recovery console or also if you have that installed it would be listed where safe mode and all of the others are

I think i have what you were asking for-- do you mean the System Recovery CD/DVD? because thats all I have.

No not the system recovery that will wipe the computer clean you can do that if you dont need anything on it

how do i do system restore, without being able to boot into any mode?

oh never mind we will have to do it threw the recovery console check to see if you have the xp install cd then follow this link

ok, i now have downloaded it to 6 floppy discs. what do i do now? I have the external floppy plugged in, with disc one in it.
i tried to do what it said under the manual steps, but the pc keeps doing what it did before (continually rebooting). is there something i'm supposed to push or do?

check your bios under boot order or somthing similar to that look for USB-FDD set it to boot of USB-FDD first

ok. i set the floppy drive first, and loaded the 6 discs. i then hit 'r' like the directions told me, and now it brought up a screen saying
which windows installation would you like to log onto
to cancel, press enter>?


what should i do?
