NanoTech one step forward?

The Reg has posted a little story on how researchers at Harvard has found a way to create nanofibers only 50nm thick, which is smaller than the light they're conveying.

Since the fiber is smaller than the light, the light is actually travelling around the fiber instead of through...

Though it probably will be a long time before we see this in products, it should (if viable) allow manufacturers to create more powerful machines without increasing the size.
