SB0670 X-Fi sound card not recognized by system

If anyone can steer me in the right direction, I would appreciate it greatly. My PC does not recognize this card when I put it in any of my PCI slots. It says there is a sound card in but it doesn't know what type it is, it simple says there is a sound card installed and nothing more. I read this card requires PCI 2.1 slot type and my PC manufacturer's website states my mobo is "PCI Master 2.2", so I presume this means it is compatible. BTW, it defaults to the internal speaker when I install it (the one that makes those crude Apple IIc beeps) and my PC doesn't do that with my SB0090 and that is much older. Any suggestions on getting this to work? Thanks to everyone for taking their time to read this.

yes, it seems to make no difference. I don't think it is a driver problem because all I get is the internal speaker when I use the card and nothing else.
