320gb hdd only show 130gb

hi there,

i bought a 320gb(wd) SATA HDD recently. i connect it to port 1 on my mainboard (ASUS P5Q SE).

however,when i start windows, it show the capacity is only 130Gb.when i checked at BIOS, the capacity is 320Gb.

i wonder where the other 190Gb is and please help me get them back....

Probably lots of unallocated space/

rt Click My Computer-> Manage the Storage->Disk Management

what does it say about your drive?

Just out of curiosity, did you install Windows to it from an XP disk that didn't include SP1 or SP2? XP prior to SP1 would not see the rest of the space on drives larger than ~127GB I believe.

yup, my XP cd doesn't included any SP...

thanks man, now i know why it happen and how to solve it..
