Monitor losing signal
I know it's not a monitor problem most likely because I'm borrowing a friends monitor now, so...
On my monitor I always use to have to leave it on because whenever the monitor did the powersave option, I would lose the signal coming back to it. I would have to replug in the monitor quite a few times, or reboot a few times to see it get the signal back. Just recently have I been having increased trouble with it, and my whole fix idea was proving useless, I went out to buy a new monitor, and instead decided to borrow my friends until I could actually afford one. NOW this monitor is losing signal, WHAT IS GOING ON? It's not as difficult to get the signal back, I usually just replug the DVI, and I get it the signal back. I haven't been leaving the monitor on and have the powersave option on because I was hoping it wasn't the real problem. I've also noticed strange happenings with my graphics. Like video lag when I used S-Video to watch something. Or when one of my games frozen when just going to character selection (FFXI)... And it happened twice. As I see it now, my GPU temp it 50-51 C, with nothing extensive going on. Is that too high for 0% GPU activity? Also, if my graphics card is the problem, why would one monitor be easier to get a signal back than another? Could my graphics card be corrupting the monitors? When I was using my other monitor I would have to keep it on all the time (since I never turn off my computer unless required)... And instead had a blank screensaver turn on within a minute so I wouldn't have to sleep with such luminosity. I'm also having trouble sometimes with streaming video (embedded video typically, via Firefox)... as it occasionally stop playing at exactly 2 seconds, but the video will load completely, and I can skip to any part and will only play 2 seconds & stop again. Help please~ |

Well seems pretty obvious (understandably not to you) it's your Video card
But because you have provided absolutely no information on your system (I'm guessing it's a PC at least) I can not diagnose any further. Well this part can be standard: Remove all internal dust Remount your Video card, if it's an addon card? That's about all Actually this one would help: Please put your System Specs information in your Profile |

If your monitor works on your buddies comp but not on yours, then the fault is in your comp somewhere.
Do what Kimsland said and also uninstall the present drivers completely for the vid card and reboot and install the latest drivers fresh. You might also want to do an 'sfc /scannow' if using XP. |
