Trouble getting past the Windows loading screen

I am recently having trouble getting past the windows loading splash screen (which means I can't at all) when trying to load up windows. Usually It will stall for 5 mins or so there and then reboot. I have tried reinstalling the OS but whenever I try to do so, The windows installation "cannot detect a drive installed"
I have loaded up the drive via slaving over an external adapter and can read write and access all the files on the drive, But I cannot load it on its own, or even install, OR repair windows for that matter.
I have reinstalled the sata divers as well as tried to get the HD to load on other computers as well as using different sata cables on both north and south bridge connections, and am stumped. Not I'm no expert and am hoping I had forgotten something obvious, so any answers out there Gurus?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I have checked all the BIOS settings and they are correct. The BIOS reads the HD as being installed, the windows install however sees no disk...

Try running CheckDisk in Safe Mode

If you're not able to get into Safe Mode you can run CheckDisk on a command line using your bootable Xp CD, and the command: chkdsk volume:/f, and then press ENTER (substituting your volume name to the Drive letter ie C )
More info here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265

If you don't have your Xp CD, try one of these free CDs

Ultimate Boot CD

XP Recovery Console

You could also try Memtest on your Ram

One other possibility is the HardDrive Data Cable is faulty (or even the Power Supply for that matter)
