So, the problem started when my dad told me various recharge lights would not come one. Low and behold after opening it up I noticed the Power Pin within the DC housing was not there, in fact it dropped directly into my hand while I was opening it... So after a great deal of experimentation in trying to fix it... I have given up, if I jiggle it for a little while the lights will come on for a second... Please look at diagram for what I believe is accurate~

The connector just behind the housing... is that a ground? my limited knowledge on, on-board circuitry prevents me from repairing this myself.

if you can visually seek the break, then you know where it should connect in order to repair it. You need not know the polarity. But I don't recommend repairing this yourself unless you are good with a soldering iron. Take it to a shop.

Actually I don't think it's ground, but unsure, maybe a link to a magnified photo would help

I'm going to contact member lamo, who loves this cicuitry area, and is certainly an expert in it. I'm unsure when or if he'll reply, so possibly just be patient

That center pin is the positive connector. The adapter housing mounts and the DC ground are the same. The break in the center pin is common and easily fixable by someone who can repair laptops and handle a soldering iron

Thanks for the responses everyone, I am certain I could of repaired it, had I the appropriate tools. I do have a solder ironer? but it was meant for glass cutting and clearly the solder that I do have is not meant for circuitry ( as it sticks to nothing lol )

That's a pretty nice guide, ha! Fortunately I have had experience with opening the laptop in question ( had to clean it due to dust causing an overheating issue ) Could of saved me 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get the keyboard out. Darn Security Strip >.>

There are many good laptop repair companies out there... Local repair is not necessary. Go to FedEx and purchase a Laptop mailer box from them for $10, and insure it for replacement value.

soldering of the positive pin is useless in this case. order a new dc-connector from, for instance:
