Blue Screen Error XP Pro SP3 – Minidumps

Right at the end of booting, my PC blocked with blue screen. This happened once more, but giving blank screen.

The error code on the blue screen was probably:
STOP: 0x00000050
I say probably because the last 0 was not clearly legible.

I have not installed any new hardware or software lately.

I’ve done a memory test - ran MemTest for 45 mins with 0 errors. I had also done an HD test in the past.

I attach the 2 minidump files of today’s fault.

I would be greatly obliged if a knowledgeable guru could advise.

Uninstall Kaspersky AV and see if the crashes stop (in safe mode if you have to).

Thanks for your interest peterdiva. I’ll try uninstalling KAV if it happens again.

In the meantime, I have already tried to follow the blue screen advice:
” …Disable BIOS memory options s.a. caching or shadowing.”

I did the following:
Advanced BIOS Features > CPU L1 & L2 Cache: was Enabled, changed to Disabled.
I could not find the shadowing option.

My questions:
1. Is what I’ve done (changing CPU L1 & L2 from Enabled to Disabled) right?
2. Are there any negative consequences of the above action?
3. Where do I find the BIOS memory shadowing option? And is it worth trying to disable it?

You should ignore the blue screen advice. I think Kaspersky is the problem.

1. No. Change it back.
2. Yes. Reduced speed.
3. Don't bother.

Thanks again peterdiva, for answering all my questions and compliments on pinpointing what seems to be the cause of the problem. Such specific info is rather uncommon with blue screens.

I was still using KAV version 6. Since my key still has some time to run and the AV otherwise does a good job, I have first tried to upgrade to the latest KAV Version 2009 (8.0.0.454), rather than switch to another AV. I hope it works, but today the PC started OK.

If you have any comments on the above, please express them.
