Hi,

Ive got a problem at a school that I work at weve just installed the new wireless conrtroller from netgear its working great, The network is pier to pier they didnt have a server previously, but Ive put a server in just to setup DHCP on the network.

What they want is for "Joe Bloggs" to be able to come into the school with his laptop and connect to the wireless network and use the internet straight away, they can connect fine and the DHCP works, but all schools have a proxy server of "proxy.lancsngfl.ac.uk" and port "8080" so to get on the internet each laptop that comes in would have to input the proxy server in seperatly.

I know you can deploy proxy settings via group policy but these laptops are not on the domain is there any programs or any other way that we can get the proxy settings on automatically.

Thanks for any help in advance

Joe

Without joining the domain, the config needs to be done locally.

If you have a webserver, you can load the config file there, have the client
access the config file and run the update.

*WARNING* this is most unkind as when the laptop goes back home, the users
Internet connection will no longer work!

Joining the Domain works better, but going home still has issues with
TCP settings.
