Well after having lots of issues with my current pc thats hardly worth the effort to fix, I've decided its time to move on.
I know my options are limited with a budget of $500 to spend on a new one. I'm looking for some good enough to run World of warcraft on, I know its not a very demanding game compared to some others, but I'm looking to run on good fps.

Ordering over the internet is not an option for me as I have no bank account and some very pour credit. : /
So I have found a couple things from a local PC shop that I belive will get the job done for what I want and the budget I'm on.

I'm just asking you're opinions on my choice, do you think this machine will get me the FPS I desire in the World of warcraft?

An eMachines is a rubbish choice IMO. Get a Dell or HP desktop instead.

The best choice however would be to build your own PC. Parts can be purchased from a store like BestBuy or any small computer shop nearby and it will take at most 2-3 hours to get the PC up and running. It would give you a lot of know-how and save you a lot of cash as well.

Even if you don't want to build it yourself, although I agree it's the best choice, you really should avoid eMachines.

It is impossible for such a price to buy the gaming PC
XBOX 360 is just worth up to $500 and this is something we need for the games.

I'm not sure what you're saying here, but if you are insisting that the 360 is $500, you are wrong there too, as it's only $400 for the Elite.


To the OP, I, too, would avoid buying an eMachines. A friend got one and it died nearly immediately, and bad Customer Service according to him. We found out that his MB just decided to say screw all ram, and had some kind of error that caused the ram slots to somehow fry. Still can't figure out how in the hell they did that one.

come on... just about all smart parts at bestbuy are over priced, we all know buying online is the best way to get cheap parts.

The OP can't buy online so that leaves him with very little choice.

Lol...emachine x.X. I would, as everyone else has, stay away from it. I remember when i used an emachine :P.

Yes building it yourself is better, but not being able to order online could be a BIG problem. The internet is interlaced with anything technological these days.

For the card, i would recommend these:
9600gso < 9600gt < 8800gt = 9800gt < 8800gts < 9800gtx < 9800gtx+ < ≈$200 < Evga FTW!

Also, any ATi/AMD card called HD 4 _ _ _ is probably a good card. Make sure your power supply is ready before fitting in a new card. For those card, its generally better to have a higher number. Remember to get the latest drivers for your card.

micro center has very competitive prices if you decide to build it yourself i would shop there they are very competitive with newegg and other online retailers

thats a good pc zak but i would go for cheaper ram (you can get ddr2 2x2gb for like 40 bucks now) and spend what you saved on a little better cpu

BAD IDEA. I once thought about buying Rosewill PSU for their cheep prices and high wattage. But that was when i was still a tiny little kid.

400 watts is enough for that build.


Note you will have to use a 64 bit OS for that, and also you didn't include the OS in the price, or a monitor / keyboard / mouse and stuff.


This is first off overpriced, I don't know how prices are at micro center, but its way too overpriced. The 9600gt is faster and apparently $90 at newegg...for a cheep brand.

This doesn't even support your RAM speed.
These three are good choices, note i gigabyte has better RAM support (this is debateable!), especially with OCZ it seems. I would pick the gigabyte without hesitation. But go look on micro center and see which ones they have, if they have only the gigabyte one, good for you, easy choice .

Hey man, I don't know a lot about the computer things, butttt... If you wanna order online, and get those cheaper prices, I know a lot of places are selling prepaid cards you can use online... I'm not sure how big they get, but I think they are about 3 bucks a card... so for every say, 100 bucks you pay 3, but idk. They might go bigger.

Something to look into.
