Compaq presario r3000z cto boot problems

My compaq r3000z cto failed to boot this morning. The fans and hard drive spin up. The display only shows random pixels, no bootup text whatsoever. I have removed the hard drive, cdrom, and memory and still nothing. I press f10 to enter the CMOS setup and get no graphics there either. I am afraid it may be the system board. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

This post belongs in "Mobile Computing" because the Compaq R3000z is a laptop computer...

regardless, it is probably the system board like you say. Heat has probably destroyed the motherboard. You could take it into a repair shop or take it apart yourself and see if you can clean the CPU cooling fan(s) and the cooling fins. It may be just a failed fan or motherboard
