HP DV8000 freezes on startup

HP DV8000 freezes on startup
I have an HP DV8000 laptop, just a spare that is not used often. It recently started freezing on boot up, even if I try starting in safe mode, it gets mid-way through booting and then just freezes. Any ideas?

not agree that this is HDD faulty in first turn. this laptop has some typical problems connected with videochip and some other components.
i'd like to recommend to try to reinstall windows, at least try to boot from install CD and do chkdsk procedure. |
