Monitor Problems

I have a dell dimension 4600. When I turn on the monitor it comes on for a few seconds and them goes off. The green power indicator stays on but the screen is black. I have tried a different monitor and it works so I don't think it is a computer problem. Is there a fuse that could be blown? If so can I do it? Any help with problem would be appreciated.

I had a Dell Ultrasharp 1703 with this problem. It was a transformer on the inverter for the backlight that had burnt out.

It's not cost effective to replace the inverter and that's if you can even find one.
