Having trouble with my DVD Writer

I have a HP DVD Writer 200i, it works sometimes and sometimes it does not, and I get an error message while burning. Today I tested the drive using Nero and said that I had a "Power calibration error". What does that mean and can I fix this?
 
Those HP optical drives are becoming hated items due to their rate of early failures..
Check the HP website for any Firmware updates.
If not, buy another brand... LG, LiteOn, Pioneer, Plextor, or Yamaha. Do NOT buy HP, HLDS, Sony, Sony Nec, Acer
Use Memorex discs.
