Port Forwarding

Hi,
I just got a new router. A Jensen Scandinavia 59300, and I want to be able to port forward Warcraft 3. I've activated Port Forwarding, Virtual Server and special applications, but it simply won't work. And I've also done the windows firewall settings. Any suggestions?
 
Port forwarding requires that you specify the IP of the computer running the service. And the ports to forward.

So what ports did you forward and to what IP?

You need a static LAN IP on the computer you are forwarding to.

I do assume the Internet is working, correct?

And be sure these are permitted thu the Firewall actually turn off firewall for trouble shooting. I all works till the FW is turned on well.....

A decent router shouldn't need port forwarding setting up to play WoW... the NAT should take care of it. I'm assuming you are unable to connect to the WoW server(s), are you sure it's the router that's the problem...?

I don't play WoW, but i do play guild wars, and lots of other online games, some of my pc's have static ip's, but not all, i can play on any of them as the NAT that the router does sorts out which pc to route the data to...
 
nononoono i can connect to wow servers and stuff like that, but i want to be able to host servers for wc3 etc myself. i tried changing over to a static ip, but that ****ed my router.
 
What did you try changing to a static IP? Your pc or the router? You need to forward ports 6112-6119 to your pc (this should be given a static ip, this makes it easier). Also, make sure the ports are open in your windows firewall. If you need help fowarding ports, let me know the brand/model of your router.

Jensen Scandinavia 59300. The router is set to a dynamic ip adress, and i tried to change the router to static which ****ed it up. The port settings are already on the router (6112-6119) and it says that it is working. I have also done all the windoes firewall settings.
 
Forgot you put the router model in your original post. The router should be left as a dynamic address, but you should set a static ip address on your pc so the ports are always forwarded to the correct ip. As long as you have those ports forwarded to your pc and your windows firewall is not blocking them, you should be able to host. Unless you have a software firewall (Norton, Zone Alarm, etc.) running, or if you ISP sent you a modem with routing capabilities (you would then need to forward the ports within their device also).

Ah ok, but then comes the question. How do I change into to a static ip?
 
-Open control panel
-Double click Network Connections
-Right click your Local Area Connection and select properties
-Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
-Set your static IP
 
Two methods
  1. Set your computer to a static IP address.
    (Also generally requires this is coordinated with your router such that your router does not assign any DHCP addresses within the range of your static IP address
  2. Set router Address Reservations Options
    For this method, your computer continues to use DHCP to request address from router (so no computer changes required)
    =>BUT your router must then be configure to always assign the same IP address to your computer (You tell router computer MAC hardware address and IP address you always want assigned when router sees MAC address requesting IP address)
