Okay so i'm a pc novice, All i know is that my new pc (vista) is playing up. I keep getting bosd's in everything except safe mode. I'm not using that pc atm because its almost impossible to sign onto normal mode. It wasn't so bad yesterday. i only got the blue screens after about 15 mins of up time, But now its happening immediatly after i log onto my desktop. So i can't use it basically. Before it was this bad and the blue screens were less frequent i updated all my drivers (because i after one of the bsod's i got an error msg telling me that it was to do with a driver or device.) But still nothing works. This is the second time that i've reinstalled vista on to my pc in the past 5 days. I've tried turning down my color scheme to 16bt from 32bt but doesnt help. If theres any other information i need to put up here in order for you to help me, Please tell me what or/and how to do it. Really desperately need help and am a complete novice, so bare with me

What do the BSODs say as in terms of an error code and driver listing?

Do this first basic diagnostic test. Run Memtest on your memory.

1. Go to www.memtest.org and download the latest ISO version. It is free and perfectly safe.

2. Burn to a CD.

3. Place CD in your drive and reboot with CD in drive. (You might have to place your drive as first bootable in your BIOS) The test will take over.

4. Let it run for a LONG time. The rule is a minimum of 7 Passes. There are 8 individual tests per Pass. Many people will start this test before going to bed and check it the next day.

5. If you have errors you have corrupted memory and it needs to be replaced.

6. Also, with errors you need to run this test per stick of RAM. Take out one and run the test. Then take that one out and put the other in and run the test. If you start getting errors before 7 Passes you know that stick is corrupted and you don’t need to run the test any further on that stick.
