When you open up Task Manager in Windows XP, there is no title bar, menu bar, or program tabs showing. Only the running applications, End Task, Switch To, and New Task buttons show up.

This problem is easy to fix, the Task Manager is running in "tiny footprint mode". To correct this, simply double-click on the border around the window and it will return to its normal state. To place task manager back in "tiny footprint mode" again, double click again on the border around the window.

Here is the Microsoft article to this problem:

I think Rick first mentioned it here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/post86132-3.html

But to be more specific with what to do:

On the Performance or Networking tabs in Task Manager
Just double click anywhere in the large graph (and double click again to remove the borders, and so on...)

FYI if you double click on the Applications Tab (in any of the white area) TM will minimize.

So ends a 5 year thread

Be calm, don't cry guys :) :)

Hi Dear Windows 2000/XP users,

I had the same problem that you mentioned, and found out how to solve it.

Please double-click on the arrow seen in the attached figure.. If you do this, the task manager window enlarges to the normal mode. You can see the 'Applications', 'Processes', 'performance' and 'Networking' tabs right now ..

I am waiting for your celebration messages now, guys ...
