Hello everybody... This is my first post... really need some help.. IBM R51 Thinkpad 2883.... Had the problem months ago laptop would just shutdown.. then it was taking longer times to boot.. 2 or three or 20 to 30.. Had a 60g hard drive 512mb ram.. installed a 250g hard drive and 1g pc2700 ram.. old ram was also a pc2700. also a new batt. and charger.. after this first attempt to start I went into bios and changed boot to dvd.. booted fine and loaded xp... up until the partiton part and then shutdown... next started to boot got msg. file setupdd. sys could not be loaded the error code is 4... next attempt error code is 32768.. now It will not boot at all.. with or without hard drive, dvd.... I can here and feel the fan running. I am thinking the fan from previous posts but when I try in the morning to boot sometimes it starts and sometimes not... please help.... thanks...

run memtest 86+ to test ram.
