Display turned upside down

Hi! Need some help here.

I am using an X61T, running with windows XP and uses an external monitor. Everytime i closed the lid of the machine the display on my external monitor turned upside down. It didn't change as well when I re-open the lid of the machine. And everytime I close the lid of the machine the problem persist and needs to press the button (found at the side of the monitor) to flip it back to normal.

I tried to keep on searching but didn't find the solution. I just found out to press the ctrl+alt+arrow key to flip it back to normal. But this doesn't help because the X61T has its own button (found on the side of the monitor) to change display either sideways or upside down.

Please help! Thank you!

not sure but is there a utility coming with the drivers or as a separate installation?
I had a similar problem which was solved after I installed the management utility for the video/lcd device. it stored the settings in sort of a profile and corrected any change (not initiated by the user) automatically.
