Woe to "Doll House"

Doll house's ratings fell to 1.0 / 2.80 million viewers. That pretty much guaranteed cancellation. Did anybody like this? Did anybody else watch this? Does anybody feel sorry for Josh Whedon's ego? How many will miss Eliza Dushku in fishnet stockings and a "push up"?

It seems that my liking a show is it's "kiss of death". Witness the recent demise of "Life", "Life on Mars", and the likely (almost certain) demise of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles".

It seems the public at large has fairly gross taste in TV. Witness, "Fat People Crying Tears of Joy", AKA "The Biggest Loser", and the "Megalomaniac in a Bad Hairpiece Who Fires People"". (Donald Trump's "Apprentice").

I also like to use my innate abilities on my hometown sports teams, I consider myself personally responsible for the "Eagles" Super Bowl" loss.

Tell me what you think, as long as it's not "Lost is the best show on TV"!

Hey Cap,
I did watch as I always do and I cannot believe that this masterpiece will be ignored into obllivion! as for 'kiss of death' in my case im sure that 'lie to me', and 'life' will get the ax. for me two of the most compelling characters to grace the small screen since i outgrew M.A.S.H ...haha, as for 'life on mars' perhaps you can soothe yourself in the BBC UK original version reruns...it was much better

oh yes! if you have never been made aware of 'Hustle' ...again BBC, give it your viewing audience, its brilliant and the new season is supposed to start in late 09' after a season long hiatus .

Eliza Dushku has sort of a checkered past at Fox. They carried "Tru Calling" actually past where I thought they would. That series really wasn't that good, but I followed it because I always enjoy her personally.
Doll House is much better conceptually, as it offers the possibility of an almost never ending supply of characters and plot lines. Types of shows like this with so many variables never quite get stale.
The show that springs immediately to mind is "Stargate SG-1". Hey if a plot line is getting stale, just gate to a different planet, and a different friend or foe.
Fox has killed some good shows over the years, "Dark Angel" jumps to mind. Look how well Jessica Alba has done after her stint with Fox. The critics were crowing how that show would outlast "Angel". Didn't happen.

And sorry to report, "Life" tied up all it's loose ends in the "season finale".

The only sci-fi show I really didn't mind getting the axe was "Andromeda". That 5th season's plot lines and Sorbo's ego, made my mantra, "please make him stop". Seasons 1 to 4 though, good stuff. Erica Durance and Nia Peeples were fun in guest spots.

Woe to Doll House, even Cleopatra 2525 got about 28 episodes, and how stupid and bizarre was that? Gotta confess though, I watched it religiously! The show sorta created, or at least perfected, my favorite genre, something I like to call "spandex sci-fi". Season 8 of "Charmed", lotsa cosplay happening there too.

Many people thought the early episodes were awful. The series actually got way better after episode 6, I think. At least you should download one or more of the later episodes to give her a fair shot. It won't help get the series renewed, but you might enjoy them a bit more.

As They Say, Truth is Stranger Than Fiction...........

Whoa......head rush.....!

It actually makes sense for Fox not to renew Terminator, but to renew Dollhouse.

I've seen it written that everybody at Fox has a crush on Eliza, for that matter, so do I.

But seriously, Terminator had a 22 episode reprieve, and still didn't pull more audience than Dollhouse. Fox is aware that Sci-Fi shows have a slower takeoff than dramas, comedy or reality types. Allegedly, Fox is getting Dollhouse cheap, and other than Serenity, Joss Whedon has a decent track record with the network. OK, I think this was Fox property, but never aired on Fox. (Paramount?)

Although, Dushku had enough rope to hang herself with "Tru Calling", (28 episodes), which, (to me anyway), the only reason to watch was on the slim hope that Eliza would do a lingerie episode. (This was pulled after only 6 episodes of the second season). Still, not as bad as "Skin" which Fox yanked after 2! Or possibly the premier."Romeo and Juliet" meet in the porn industry, who could predict that that wouldn't make it! (Actually IMDB says pulled after 3)

They premiered the Dollhouse in the worst time slot imaginable, it failed, but it seems it didn't fail as bad as it could have.

Did anybody follow SNGX's link to the renewal story? Well 2 more links deep it ends up here, http://www.thrfeed.com/eliza-dushku-...slideshow.html with an outrageous slide show of Dushku's outrageous outfits! I didn't remember all of them, but I'm telling you I'll be there for the DVD box set the day it is released

You do know that Holly Marie was boinking her camera man, don't you? Could this be part of the reason that she always looked so good? I think she was pregnant during season 8.

Jus' kiddin', she does have one of the most pleasant and innocent faces on network TV. I tried to track down an old "Stuff" magazine shoot of Holly for you, but all I could find at this point were bits and pieces. Sorry!

To paraphrase our first president; "I can not tell a lie, the cameraman chopped down Holly's cherry tree".

to quote Carol Burnett, 'all of my illusions shattered'

did you catch the season finale of 'house'? the look Hugh Laurie put on his face when he walked into Wilson' office in the last scene was incredible.

No, I didn't. I also forgot to watch, "Dancing with the Stars" Monday AND Tuesday this week!

I can almost hear you laughing from Minnesota. But really, if you're going to buckle and watch one reality show, "DWTS" is it! It's got half naked really buff women, and an incredible live band. For the full effect, watch on a decent flat panel, with the home theater sound near full blast. Oooo, and then there's the pretty colors!

Coping With Bullying....101

@ Red; There's a beefcake French actor on "DWTS" this season that you could use as bait, so that meanwhile you could scope out Melissa from "The Bachelor"!

You should have dealt with the George Hamilton issue by simply saying, "George Hamilton, Christ, that guy's older than captaincranky"!

I you like, I could PM you some links that are unconditionally guaranteed to take the sting out of not being able to watch the season with Kristi Yamaguchi, or for that matter, anybody else you can possibly think of.

as far as #1, I don't think that will work, no one but Hugh Jackman seems to distract her long enough for me to execute my schemes, she even has a poster or two of him...although i have no idea why she would tack them to the ceiling!

as for #2....i already used that one.

and #3...sure send em...what the hell

btw, hows Kristi lookin these days?

1.Don't try to paddle upstream! I'm sure you could find a pair of mutton chops and some claws somewhere. While you're at it, perhaps a "Jean Grey" as "Phoenix" costume. For cosplay on a budget, just peroxide and a hair stripe. Sort of a jailbait motif.

It just didn't sink in. Use more superlatives IE; "that guys twice as older as captaincranky was ten years ago". Followed by innuendo, have you priced Viagara lately?

In the works.

Despite her mid 30s and 2 children, pretty much like a mid 20s aerobics instructor.

Although, with all the heavy make-up, and hair gel on DWTS, she did have just a hint of "Madam in a third rate Geisha House". Enough to make her interesting I suppose.

PS for Red; See, that wasn't Holly glowing on camera, she was "after glowing"

Gotta get this thread back on topic: I sure do hope SNGX & the reporter guy are right about "Dollhouse" being renewed. This way, if Eliza is in costume during the weekly promo spots, I can hire an escort to dress up like her during the show. A real "Multi media" presentation, multi media, yeah, that's the ticket!

has it been 4 hours?

@ Captain-
well now that's some uncommon advice ya just cant pay to get elsewhere. although I was skeptical about it, you know what they say....(shorter men shouldn't wear double breasted suits or mutton chops and claws), it worked out famously! its a new beautiful new day here in Minnesota!. the sky is blue... the grass is blue....er... the cars are blue....why is everything blue?
oh well, no matter....DWTS is back in the rotation

Oink If You Love Cosplay............!

Re; "Has it been 4 hours"?

Remember, if you experience arousal lasting more than 4 hours, be sure to seek medical attention. Perhaps a lesbian in a nurse's costume. and one more for good measure..

Well Mr Smarty Pants, you could harness it in to the computer side of the PSU. That way you could verify the actual system draw in DC Watts. So then, after measuring the draw on the AC side and subtracting the DC wattage from that figure, you could arrive at a pretty accurate assessment of PSU efficiency. I feel that that should be worth at minimum, 860 dollars! (Or at least what little 860 bucks is worth nowadays, which isn't all that much, since Obama had a whole s***load more money printed)!

BTW; "Dollhouse released on DVD today, and so did season 4.5 of BSG....! Gotta jet..!
