Confirmed: Windows 7 to arrive on October 22

Last month, Microsoft revealed that Windows 7 would indeed be hitting in time for the holiday season. While the news came as no real surprise to anyone following its development, those waiting anxiously for the latest Microsoft operating system now have a firm date to mark on their calendars. In an interview with CNet this morning, Microsoft’s Senior Vice President Bill Veghte confirmed Windows 7 would be \"generally available\" on October 22, adding that development of the OS will wrap up by the middle or end of next month.

I am going to go a bit off topic. For the final release of the OS I would like to see net video integration in Media Center. Hulu would be a great partner in this venture. It would give some out of the box appeal, and usability to the program.

editions available:
win7 starter (for netbooks)
win7 home basic (for emerging markets only)
win7 home premium (media center?)
win7 professional (domain support)
win7 ultimate (MUI, bitlocker, ultimate extras etc.)
win7 enterprise

every higher version includes all features of the lower ones

also there will be vista + upgrade ticket to win7 available probably, starting from next month or so..
vista home premium -> win7 home premium
vista business -> win7 professional
vista ultimate -> win7 ultimate

Those vistas will cost about $8 more than the regular ones without upgrade possibility. Those $8 included in price is for transportation of win7 upgrade media once available.
