USB Bandwidth Exceeded, Asus M2N-E SLI

Lately I have been getting this error quite a lot. It's starting to get annoying when my headset decides to cut out, or my webcam doesn't work or something. I have quite a few things plugged into USB on my PC. Things like my webcam, wireless headset, HD DVD drive, HD capture card, wireless keyboard/mouse, microphone...etc.

According to Device Manager I have 5 USB Root Hubs, so why would I have no bandwidth? Here's a screenie of my device manager for the USB Controllers:

I don't know which controller that's on, though, or what's taking up too much. USB Composite DDevice doesn't really help at all, and there's no information about what the actual device is either...

I've heard this mobo has issues...is there anything I can do. I'm looking arond the ASUS site for bios updates but can't really find anything.

A bios update might help, and you might try reinstalling the chipset drivers from the ASUS Support using your motherboards model number

I agree w/ tmagic650's suggestions to assure your bios and drivers are update. Also suggest you run Windows update to assure all critical AND hardware optional updates have been applied. (there's been several old Windows KB issues about USB bandwidth problems incl audio)

I definately have the audio drivers installed, I hated those old USB audio issues where it'd get all staticy when you plugged in a USB device.

How would I go about finding the chipset drivers? Someone on overclock.net suggested the same thing and I don't know where to find them. I couldn't find them on the ASUS support site, but I did download the new BIOS and the flash utility, so I'll probably do that sometime.

And I'm pretty sure I have all the critical and hardware optional drivers installed for my PC except for this one that's for my monitors which changes the color profile and makes white look all cream colored, I hate that one.

I ( or someone else) will look for your chipset drivers and post back...

so from what you post.. can i assume you are running Vista SP2? Also read this MS KB just published in May, 2009 Streaming USB 1.1 devices that are connected to an external USB 2.0 hub behave incorrectly on a Windows XP-based, Windows Vista-based, or Windows Server 2008-based computer

Do you have any external hubs attached? have you tried (seen if you get the same error) when only the USB headset is attached? and have you tried different USB ports?
