i say a new cpu wont help you much but if you upgrade your ram you might see a performance boost. having a laptop for gaming isn't a very good idea

On a laptop? I'm sorry but your screwed. Your laptop either has a low end graphics card, or no graphics card at all, increasing CPU speed won't help without a trusty graphics adapter. I don't think that laptop can fit in a graphics card so...yes your kinda screwed :/.
