Swedish court says Pirate Bay judge not biased

A few days after being found guilty of assisting copyright infringement, sentenced to heavy fines and a year behind bars, the lawyer for one of The Pirate Bay’s co-founders charged that judge Tomas Norström belonged to pro-copyright groups and was therefore biased against them. Allegations of a conflict of interest were leveled at him, with the plaintiffs asking a court of appeal for a retrial with a different judge.

Wow... does it still sound like such a better justice system than the one we have here?

At least our guys are running free in The US and the RIAA is losing cases now.

yeah maybe we do... but dont think u can get away with looking at your favorite website(legal or not) and u arnt being watched.... plus with the **** our government is cooking up we are looking at losing even more freedoms to the supposed 'Terrorism' that is supposedly 'Running Rampant' among our own citizens.... i cant help but think of my elementry teachers voice saying:

"Remember Kids, We take away your freedoms and your privacy so that we can protect you from your neighbor who might be planning to run into your house randomly with a bomb and blow you up because you don't believe like he does!"

now think about that quote... this is what the US is comming to... just wait till the new 'White Space becomes free wi-fi broadband internet.... wont that be governmental fun! :D :/

ok so that was my rant on the government for the month to keep this post somewhat on topic:

i dont see the judgment standing, they have many different avenues to take to appeal it still... they wont even see a night in jail...."Tally one for the Pirate's bob!" and lets keep on moving!

trust me IT IS a much better justice system, in fact the US has the worst justice system under the top 20 nations for sure

a good justice system is not putting every one guilty or not in jail ! eventually if every possibility of they innocence is nulled they will have to go to jail

remember long time ago it was in the US like that too "innocent till proven guilty", maybe you remember that from some older movies ; )

the problem the US is having and in truth it is a very good yes GOOD growth pain is that we realize no 1 man or no 1 party can absolutely define INNOCENT and GUILTY, so as the pirate group or organization (you could even say collective) agrees that TPB isnt guilty another group or set of groups do...

my problem with the us isnt really the justice system as much as it is the corruption, or to be even more exact the corruption that the government condones or "turns a blind eye too" and the big brother concept that keeps low and middle class from gaining ground.

i believe our justice system would actually be evolving in the proper direction if the rest of the gov would leave it alone, this is where the corruption steps in... u have trade commissions and other governments stepping in saying NO or WE WILL PAY YOU (A) IF YOUR DELIVER (D) INSTEAD OF (B). this is where the US is having problems right now...

of course this is only my opinion....

It's definitely copyright infringement but I love that site nonetheless. Hope it continues to run. That's the nature of these torrent sites, you don't know how long they will last.

It isn't a judge's job to question that the law is 'correct'.

the site facilitates copyright infringement ,its definitely illegal . but if the judge is connected to a pro-copyright group which lets face it could be any media produceing company, sony ,christian music inc. ,anyone its a conflict of intrests ,it'll be a mistrial, and double jepardy isn't a law in europe , so there be a retrial, there's big money to play for in stamping this out, corperations will continue this persute for ever and checkout "youtube Napster Bad! Metalicops" its hilarious
