Can't Install The Sims 2

We got a new computer and its been a while since a played this game. But I know how to install it and everything.
Anyways, it stops on the third disc at 60% and a window pops up.
It reads:
A problem occured when trying to transfer the file 'TSData/Res/Sound/Voice3.package' from the media.
Do you want to retry the file, or cancel the installation?

No matter how many times I retry, the box still pops up and it doesn't go past 60%. How can I fix this, or is it that the disc is unuseable?

Is your disk scratched or marred in any way?
If so, many times you can polish the disk with a very soft cloth and alcohol... There are also devices that you can buy at discount stores for $25 that will polish the disk...
It depends somewhat on the angle of the damage in relationship to the center hole or the outer edge. Some are more easily rescued than others.
Also, something that sometimes works is to copy the disk using a very good, and very new optical drive along with Memorex or Maxell disks... Then install from the copy.

Yes the discs are a little scratched. And the first and second discs work fine.
I'll try that though.
