Infamous Info:

Posted by Katie Reid // Senior Public Relations Specialist, SCEA

Ever wonder what goes into the making of a video game? The July issue of Game Informer reveals a number of fun facts from the Sucker Punch team regarding the development of their super-hero exclusive, inFAMOUS. We thought we’d go ahead and share a few of our favorites from the issue and also the development team with you!

•In addition to the kitchen espresso, the inFAMOUS team traveled to Starbucks approximately 18,200 times. Two groups of 10 people per day, five days a week.
•There were 10 inFAMOUS babies born during development. One employee had two during that time.
•It took over 70,000 separate art, code and media check-in submissions to make inFAMOUS.
•The inFAMOUS team consumed 17,472 cans of diet Coke and 13,104 cans of diet Pepsi during development.
•There were no less than 14 high rise buildings constructed within 3 blocks of Sucker Punch’s offices during the inFAMOUS development cycle.
Here are a few more fun facts about inFAMOUS worth mentioning…

•inFAMOUS is the fastest demo to reach the 1 million milestone on the PlayStation Network.
•According to a recent NPD report, inFAMOUS was the fifth best-selling software title for the month of May after being on the shelves for only 6 days (the title launched on May 26).
We’ve also got a new video to share… check out this walk-through video of the Titanic Beatdown mission with commentary from Sucker Punch Game Designer, Darren Bridges.

But wait, we still have one more fun fact to share with you all…

We’re excited to announce that a new inFAMOUS space will be launching in Home very soon. We’ll have a lot more details on the new space for you all next week, so please stay tuned!

hmmm i havent played on infamous but i do own prototype. I was dissapointed by the demanding game i have to say, it seems to take but give little back in terms of graphics. It is fun for a while but gets haard and boring. The reviews I have seen of the 2 games means I think infamous is the winning game.

on account of not having a ps3... and having no desire to purchase one, prototype takes it for me. plus you can karate kick helicopters and summon giant spikes out of the ground when you get really frustrated

Prototype for me.

InFamous got boring after awhile. Mercer's powers on the other hand, keep evolving. I love the fact that you get to hijack helicopters...out of the sky!

It's like being in John Carpenter's "The Thing".
Only this time, you are "The Thing"!

actually, i was implying that a good pc build is a far superior gaming machine than any console...

i know consoles are dedicated to playing games with optimal performance but with a pc you can just do more, like use source code to create mods, tweak and change performance settings and so on. of course you have to take compatibility and system requirements into consideration but i think that's a small price to pay. also, if there's a problem with your pc, you don't need to ship it out to have it serviced or buy a new one; you can just replace and upgrade your parts. next gen consoles are getting a lot better though, and the gap between pc performance and console performance has closed significantly. regardless, i still say pc > console.

A console is ultimately a non-upgradeable PC. So it will always be limited in scope and power compared to a mid-end PC (nevermind high-end).

I remember the Sony chairmain saying that the PS3 was as powerful as two 6800 Ultras in SLI. Considering that a single 8800GTS 512 blows that configuration out of the water, I'd go for a PC every time.

I think prototype is an awsome game not as much work put into but still a really fun game. As infamous is a really through game with a lot more diverse gameplay but def not as much action. i like prototype

I could spend up to an hour in Prototype just picking people up off the street and throwing them off of buildings... so I guess that's another reason I liked it so much. The game itself wasn't real complex, but they did there best I felt with player customization and combat. I mean there were countless ways to go about doing just about everything in the game. It wasn't the greatest looking title ever, by a long shot, but the actual game play and limitless chaos pretty much makes up for that.

u know I never thought of throwing people off buildings , I'll put that down to just lacking in creativity , but the complexity of the moves really put me of , christ , compared to infamous I found the game a bit labour intensive , infamous was a wee bit short though , they could have made it massive.

I don't have a PS3 in my home so I have no comment of inFamous, but my son has Prototype (he's 16) and I've watched him play. Although I'd say the game looks good, IMO it seemed a little monotonous with a bunch of random, over the top killing...guess you have to actually play the game to "get into it". As my fingers seem to get quite retarded when I pick up a controller, I can say I'll likely never play it or get into it. I would however like to see how it would look on my rig (PC FTW )

maybe your granting me the misunderstanding I gave you regarding the previous post , I mean lack of creativity on my behalf , it never crossed my mind to throw people of buildings , but there's probably other reasons u thought of it and I didn't but I'm not a psychiatrist ,LOL , and I am not really aware infamous is exclusive ,
