The Pirate Bay scooped up by Swedish software company

Swedish software firm Global Gaming Factory X (GGF) announced that it is in the process of acquiring The Pirate Bay for about $7.8 million – about half of which will be paid in cash. GGF owns a band of Internet cafes and gaming centers. The company hopes to see the deal close by August, after which it will introduce a new business model. Already, GGF’s shares have skyrocketed in response to the news.

have to Pay, BAD be swamped with advertising, and have everything still free and LEGAL. COUNT ME IN!! Sonds like this firm has a large task on there hands. I hope they can make this work. A company that runs gaming centers would be anti gaming piracy I would think.

I think so too gobbybobby , I doubt it'll be free ,but if it was significantly cheaper than of the shelf that wouldn't be so bad, and if they did a good job of it ,I'd know exactly what I was downloading,I've {or excuse me} my friend {piracy is not condoned on this site} has downloaded stuff thats been in spanish or missing the audio altogether ,maybe this would eliminate all that.

Rather odd move imo, I don't exactly see how this will be good for the company at all. Individuals using TPB will just move on else where imo. While I admire them wanting to please all, I see them pleasing no one...

So basically this will be their new motto

"hey we didn't make this, and it should be available for anyone, but only if you pay us?"

Way to sell out morons.

That's a really good point. Now they won't have anything special anyone wants... They will just be competing in the legit video download market, already with competitors.

There are loads of other torrent websites out there but TPB is easy and you can spot torrents that contain viruses easily because people put it in the comments.
