No Audio Device on Lenovo T61 Windows XPSP3

Hello,

after completing the Automatic Updates the sound on Lenovo T61 XPSP3 "disappeared". The "Sounds and Audio Devices" show no audio device present.

The Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus has a Yellow "!".

Tried the following:

1. installed KB888111 obtained from MS hotfix.
2. Tried to install the Soundmax audio driver package (7KA114WW) obtained from lenovo support website and got the following message:

"Audio Driver Installation Failed"
3. After that Soundmax is not installed at all.

I've checked different forums and web-sites and nothing worked.

Installed Driver Detective which pushed the same 7KA114WW from Lenovo as solution for the Audio Device on High definition Bus.

I can't backup the updates using System Restore (tried few different check points) as it is not find any changes.

Any suggestions or help?

Please, any ideas before restoring the system to the factory setiings?

Try to install the sound driver in safe mode.

after that, boot to normal windows and try the sound.

Any other suggestions?

Note: If 7ka113ww (Version 5.10.1.5670) is currently installed on the system,
it needs to be uninstalled first. Reboot the system and then install
7ka114ww (Version 5.10.1.5520). Please see the 7ka114ww.txt file for more information.

click the link below for 7ka114ww.txt file and instructions on how to install
7ka114ww (Version 5.10.1.5520) :

Thanks again....

I tried it already - did not work.

I finally gave up and restore the factory settings - my sound and all devices are finally working!

Thanks a lot for your assistance
