Microsoft drops plan for browser-less Windows 7 E

Recently Microsoft proposed to give Windows users in Europe a choice of browser via the so-called “ballot screen” option. Although still awaiting approval by the European Commission, the company’s deputy general counsel Dave Heiner is betting regulators will overwhelmingly support the plan and has already has dumped the browser-less version of Windows 7 that it had planned to release in that region.

While it's good that they're at least honoring their pre-orders by still keeping them as full licenses instead of upgrades, this just makes it all the more annoying that the pre-orders were limited to just three countries in Europe. Well, guess it makes me be in less of a hurry to jump to retail Win 7. The higher price is much harder to swallow after expecting it to be much lower.

GOOD. It won't kill the EU to go to Mozilla.com. If they care so much, how about they can use their OWN money to distribute discs containing whatever browsers they please...for free of course. Nah, why would they take a positive approach?
