How to start Windows without need for point-and-click selection of own profile?

Hello,

I have a minor problem that has been bugging me for some time now - any help is really appreciated!

The problem: I am running Windows XP with a single user profile/account w/ password entry at startup. Now, since this is the only profile, the OS used to automatically "select" it when showing the startup screen w/ the prompt to enter the password: Hence, the cursor was already blinking and I was able to directly enter the password without clicking at the account/profile thumbnail first (to select it).

Since temporarily (!) connected the PC to our local intranet to allow co-workers to use the printer physically connected to my PC, the profile/account is no longer "pre-selected" during startup and I have to click on it before being able to enter the password. I'd like to avoid that one click to be able to enter the password right away again. Any thoughts on how I might achieve that?

Nathan

Try control panel/User accounts and delete all accounts except yours( there may be an account named administrator apart from your account, delete it)

Then if it doesnt work, you might want to use auto logon on TweakUI

Download TweakUI >>> http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

Install TweakUI the run it, expand logon and click autologon then tick log on automatically at system startup.
