I just noticed that I can no longer access a few websites that are to be considered P2P or "questionable". I'm attempting to access them from my home PC and I get a message from OpenDNS saying that the "Site was blocked.", etc.

Where did this even come from and how the hell can I get rid of it?

I found out how to get around it but I'm not sure if this is a good way or not. I'm still not sure how this security setting got implemented in the first place anyway, but to "fix" it, I went into my network settings and selected to "Obtain DNS server address automatically". Is this ok?

that's is correct :)

however, that also exposes you to DNS Hijacking; google for it :)

IF someone were using P2P, would it be better to obtain DNS server automatically or to set the address manually?

manually.

a major reason to use the OpenDNS is to have a professional staff watch over it and
pruning the cruff out of it. Whenever you access a service (email, website, dns), the
data is only as good as how well it is managed -- and that's the problem with all P2P -- totally unmanaged :(
