BSOD in Vista 64 - Minidumps attached
Im getting BSOD's way o often. Everything ive read says its either Main Board, Sound card or graphics card. My sound, graphich and main board drivers are all the most recent. I just read a post on techspot saying it could be a bios issue and the person who had the problem flashed his bios and no more BSOD's starting with 0x00000124.
The question is has anyone esle run into these BSOD's and if so did flashing the bios work for you? If it did, where can I get the most recent BIOS update? My system Specs are as follows OS: Vista 64 Home Premium sp 2 (6.0, Build 6002) Main Board: EVGA nForce 680i SLI Bios: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG CPU: Intel Core 2 duo 6600 Memory: 8GB CORSAIR TWIN2X4096-6400C5 (4 2gb sticks) Video: XFX ATI Radeon 4870 DirectX 10 Sound: Onboard, Realtek HD HD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM BSOD numbers so far... 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA800C343030, 0x00000000B2000040, 0x0000000000000800) 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA800CABF030, 0X00000000B6200000, 0X000000000002010A) 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA800B46A030, 0x00000000B2000040, 0x0000000000000800) 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA800CAA1030, 0x00000000B2000040, 0x0000000000000800) 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA800CB54030, 0x00000000B2000040, 0x0000000000000800) 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA800CA70030, 0x00000000B620004D, 0x000000000002010A) 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA800CC06030, 0x00000000B2000040, 0x0000000000000800) and another... 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000 0xFFFFFA800CA7C030, 0x00000000B2000040, 0x0000000000000800) Thanks in advance for any help Dave Last edited by PsychoDave; 08-18-2009 at 01:21 AM.. |

All minidump errors are 0x124: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check WHEA = Windows Hardware Error Architecture. The above is the new code # with descriptive title. The old one under XP is as follows and it describes 0x124 perfectly: 0x0000009C: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION This is a hardware issue: an unrecoverable hardware error has occurred. The parameters have different meanings depending on what type of CPU you have but, while diagnostic, rarely lead to a clear solution. Most commonly it results from overheating, from failed hardware (RAM, CPU, hardware bus, power supply, etc.), or from pushing hardware beyond its capabilities (e.g., overclocking a CPU). This is a very difficult issue to pin down and it never fails that the dumps don't give a difinitive answer. I have read of IT's telling of the difficulty of finding the exact cause. The best route you can take is to do the standard hardware diagnostics: 1. Memtest for RAM. 2. Harddrive diagnostic tests. 3. Updating NIC card drivers; I know a bad card of this nature was the cause for one person. 4. Firmware updates for your optical drives. 5. Perhaps it is a BIOS upgrade need as you indicate. * It can be any hardware at this point. You may need to disconnect everything except power supply and cpu plus RAM (after running memtest) and attach one at a time until you reproduce the BSODs. |

Anyone have any imput or know of a good non nvidia board for a core 2 duo chip?

Same old 0x124 errors without a definitive answer. Have you tested the power supply or do you know someone who can?
